VCA Antech is the largest provider of high quality veterinary services in the country. We started in 1986 with VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and currently own and operate more than 465 hospitals in 39 states. In 2007, we had over 6.1 million patient visits. VCA also operates Antech Diagnostics, the largest veterinary clinical laboratory system. With daily laboratory service to over 17,000 small animal hospitals and their unique program, Antech Advantage, we help provide health care to a majority of the nation's pets.

Equipment, drugs and supplies are ordered at the hospital level through a network of VCA buying contracts and purchasing agreements. The central office in Los Angeles, CA, performs all the functions related to payroll, accounting, legal services, accounts receivable, computer support and marketing. A team of managers including the Medical Director, Office Manager and Technical Supervisor run the hospitals on the local level. A Regional Vice President, Regional Medical Director and District Manager help to coordinate and assist this team in the VCA network.

Therefore, we are looking for doctors who have a strong desire to practice quality medicine and are committed to maintaining their professional skills at the highest level. Todd Tams, DVM, Dip.ACVIM, VCA's Chief Medical Officer and Medical Advisory Board Chair, works with the Medical Directors and Regional Medical Directors to ensure that the hospitals provide the finest medical care in the industry.
Our Team
VCA employs over 1,800 full time veterinarians, including more than 200 board certified specialists. These numbers will continue to grow as VCA grows. An additional 80+ specialists work as consultants through VCA's Antech Diagnostics Laboratory network. These specialists are board certified in the disciplines of internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, oncology, radiology, emergency and critical care, and clinical pathology. Many of our generalists have specific areas of interest (e.g., dentistry, avian and exotic medicine, behavior medicine) and are encouraged to continue their education. VCA operates 15 internship programs at hospitals in: Albuquerque, NM; Aurora/Berwyn (Chicago-area), IL; Denver, CO; Gaithersburg, MD; Indianapolis, IN; Los Angeles, CA; Newark, DE; New York City, NY; Norwalk/Shelton, CT; Phoenix, AZ; Sacramento, CA; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; and Weymouth, MA.
